literary estate of Eilís Dillon (1920-1994) one
of Ireland's most distinguished writers. To explore
her work, you can focus on her novels, her detective
stories and her books for young people. There are
education and research resources, a biographical page,
quotations from her many excellent reviews, and a
bibliography.
An attractive feature of the site
is the collection of designs and illustrations for
Eilís Dillon's books by the English artist and
writer Richard Kennedy.
NEW EDITIONS AND TRANSLATIONS:
In Summer 2009 Rue Morgue Press are publishing new US trade paperbacks of Eilís Dillon's three detective novels, Death at Crane's Court (1953), Sent to his Account (1954) and Death in the Quadrangle (1956).
New York Review Books reissuedThe Island of Horses (2004) and The Lost Island (2006) in their classic NYRB Children's Collection. The Island of Horses also appeared in the Irish Independent Great Children's Book collection in Summer 2006.
In August 2001 Tomorrow Publishing House issued the first Chinese edition of The Lost Island.
In April 2000 the O'Brien Press published a new paperback edition of The House on the Shore. In April 2001 the same publisher reissued Plover Hill.
